From Software, the original developer behind the Dark Souls series, won’t be developing Dark Souls: Remastered.
Chinese-based studio Virtuos, with Bandai-Namco, will be responsible for bringing Dark Souls: Remastered to current generation platforms. This studio helped develop major ports for current generation consoles, including Heavy Rain (PS4), L.A. Noire (PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch), and Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection (PS4, Xbox One).
Based on the original Dark Souls title released for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, Dark Souls: Remastered offers improved visuals, smoother gameplay, and other features not offered from its original 2011 release. This will also mark the first time a Dark Souls title has been made available on Nintendo platforms, what with Dark Souls: Remastered coming to the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
The Nintendo Switch is no stranger to re-releases though, what with Mario Kart 8, L.A. Noire, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Pokken Tournament being some of the highlights of re-released software for Nintendo’s hybrid platform.
Dark Souls: Remastered releases for the Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, and Xbox One on May 25th, 2018.
