Mouse & Keyboard support is coming to Xbox One Preview Members next month.
Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, announced the support during the Inside Xbox stream earlier today. The first game to support Mouse & Keyboard input is Digital Extremes’ Warframe, already available for numerous platforms. The feature will roll out as part of Microsoft’s Xbox Preview program, with most mice and keyboards supported throughout the program.
In the end, it will be up to the developer on whether or not they will support Mouse & Keyboard input. Developer’s are given full control on if they want to integrate the input in their games, if at all.
“Mouse and keyboard input is not enabled by default for games,” said Jason Ronald, Senior Director of Program Management At Xbox. “Each development team knows their titles best and we support them in creating the right experience for their games as they see fit, to ensure an optimal and fair gaming experience. Warframe will be one of the first titles testing mouse and keyboard input when the feature arrives to Insider in the coming weeks.”
In addition, Microsoft is partnering with Razer to bring the best Mouse & Keyboard experience to Xbox. More information about the partnership will come out of Microsoft’s X018 fan event in Mexico City on November 10th. It appears that Microsoft is preparing for a massive event, including “the largest live #InsideXbox episode ever.” Stay tuned to Informed Pixel for coverage from the event.
Warframe is available for Xbox One, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
