Enjoy dungeon crawlers that will punish you over and over again until you finally get it right? Of course you do, you masochist, but don’t fret because the people at XSEED Games have good news for you. Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls has had its long awaited PC release date revealed.
Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls originally launched on PS3 back in 2011, and is a localised version of a 2009 game Wizardry: Torawareshi Tamashii no Meikyū. The Wizardry series has been around since the ’80s, but has bounced around from developer to developer in its lifespan. This installment comes from the developer Acquire, and you can check out the launch date trailer below.
Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls is a dungeon crawling RPG, where you can customise your party with a six-person team composed of any of eight different classes and five races. Say you like a character but hate the class you’ve given them? Well you can change it on the fly as you see fit to benefit your team. The over 100 different monsters in the game are drawn by Jun Suemi, with character art done by Yuki Hayabusa.
Included in the PC release are enhanced visuals, a new “Turbo Mode” that is meant to speed up dungeon crawling, as well as all previously released DLC for the game. It will be releasing on both Steam and the Humble Store by Humble Bumble on January 15th, 2020. There will be a price tag of $14.99, €14.99, and £12.99, but will have a launch week discount of 10%.
While meant to release back on May 29th, 2019, the game’s launch ended up pushed back. XSEED cited “an unforeseen issue involving IP licensing” in a Twitter post, and offered no other statements regarding the issue.
Wizardry Update: Due to an unforeseen issue involving IP licensing, the game cannot launch today as previously intended. We apologize for the sudden delay, and thank you for your understanding. We’ll be sure to keep everyone informed with a new release date when it's resolved. pic.twitter.com/xex9fOurQT

The Wizardry series has a notoriously high learning curve, and Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls is no different. One mistake in a dungeon and, *poof*, game over man. If you love a challenge, and aren’t afraid of a few grey hairs due to frustration then you’ll want to give the game a go. They’ll make you look distinguished, I promise. For $15 why not, right?
Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls releases on January 15th, 2020 for PC on Steam and the Humble Store.
