At this point I’ve more than made it clear that I’m a wee bit excited for DRAGON BALL Z: KAKAROT to release. Bandai Namco won’t stop teasing me, though! Released last week, check this DRAGON BALL Z: KAKAROT character progression trailer in all its eating glory.
I emphasised eating, because that’s exactly what the trailer does upon revealing that combat is not the only way to level. You can eat food from your inventory, pick fruit from trees, or even cook meat at camp to grant temporary buffs and permanent stat boosts. If you want the best bang for your buck, however, you should head to a cook to create a dish from your ingredients. You could also bring them home to Chi-Chi, and she can make you a full course meal. Ingredients can be acquired through sub-quests, or by talking to NPCs. Stuff yo’ face, get jacked!
Super moves are gained through collecting Z orbs. They’re scattered throughout the map and can be used in your character skill tree to unlock new moves/power up existing ones. I imagine this is a method to entice the player into exploring the world of DRAGON BALL Z: KAKAROT, rather than just moving from fight to fight. Along the way you can also collect D Medals. They’re not called Z medals because they don’t have a “Z” on them, next question! These are used to access training grounds to help unlock special moves you can’t gain through Z orbs. I think we should just call them “Zorbs”.
Lastly, you can grant your characters bonuses by filling up Community Boards. Granted throughout the game’s story, and by completing sub-quests are Character’s Soul Emblems. Placing these emblems on one of your seven Community Boards will unlock bonuses. Each board has unique bonuses to unlock, and you can place character’s emblems near each other to grant added boosts. Goku and Gohan are an obvious example of this, you can figure out the rest for yourself.
Well, that should be all you need to prepare your Z Warrior for the battles ahead. The DRAGON BALL Z: KAKAROT character progression looks to have some fun quirks in store. With the game’s release only a few days away, I can’t imagine there is much left to give in the way of surprises. In the small chance there is, though, we’ll see you next time on DRAGON BALL Z: KAKAROT. Sorry, that was cheesy.
