The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) have revealed some brand new details on E3 2020. Newly named E3 2020: EVERYONE PLAYS, the show will once again be held in the Los Angeles Convention Center in early June. The typical days for the actual event will return, starting on Tuesday the 9th June and ending Thursday 11th June. The dates for the surrounding Media Briefings have not yet been revealed.
Registration Information
Registration information will be the same as every other year. Registration for all badges will be done via the website, with on site registration not yet confirmed. The E3 2020 site opens on Feburary 13th, but registration won’t open until February 15th. The registration will start at 11AM Eastern Time.
Show Hours
Show hours are a little different than last year. The extra hour before and after the show for Media has now been fully removed, with the 9th instead taking the role of the Industry day. This is a great idea, as one of the main complaints from Industry attendees was that there was no chance for them to get hands on without the hustle and bustle of sharing with all the fans.
The Industry only day will be Tuesday, June 9th from 11AM until 6PM. This Industry exclusive day will allow industry and media alike to get hands on with titles and talk to developers without the long lines and jam packed convention center.
The following two days, Wednesday, June 10th and Thursday, June 11th will run from 10AM and end at 6PM. These days are expected to be incredibly busy, so if there’s a particular title you’d like to see whilst attending, getting there a few hours earlier to wait in line is vital.
Badge information
There will be a handful of badge types, as per E3 tradition. The Exhibitor, Industry and Media badges will all be complimentary, but will no doubt have set requirements in order to qualify for one. There is a premium badge that includes exclusive benefits, including access to the industry exclusive day on June 9th. Additional benefits are likely to be revealed on the 15th, but there are expected to be many given the high price of $995 for the Premium Badge.
Last but not least is the Gamer Badge. A little bit cheaper than previous years at $165, the badge will give people access to E3 on June 10th and 11th. It’s important to note that all the badges do not allow access to any of the media briefings. They are all invite only for the press.
Additional Information
E3 2020 plans to reimagine the entire identity of E3. It’ll include new stage experiences, experiential zones, and live events to showcase new titles. Along with that, they’ll also be special guest gamers, celebrities, and digital programming on the show floor.
The show floor itself will be an all new experience that will be streamed worldwide, as has become expected from the event.
“We are working to make E3 2020 a more interactive and immersive experience with a show floor that will amplify our exhibitors, their innovations, and announcements,” said Stanley Pierre-Louis, President and CEO of the ESA. “The E3 experience is an industry showcase like no other. It connects media, brands, innovators, and super fans with one another.”
