Grab your backpack, it’s time to jump back into Aurai. Canadian developers Nine Dots and publisher Deep Silver have announced the first DLC pack for its hit fantasy RPG Outward. Titled The Soroboreans, the new additions add a plethora of new features and dangers that will put you in, well, danger. From weapon add-ons to new status effects, this new Outward DLC is loaded with content. Want to hear some? Yeah, you do.
Weapons
Axes, polearms, and swords, oh my. Okay, I admit that was lame. The point is Outward has a glut of weapons for you to choose from in both the main-hand and off-hand variety. Sometimes though, don’t you wish your favourite axe could do just a bit more? With the new enchanting system, you can add new effects and trinkets to do just that. Turn your faithful “Pain in the Axe” (actual weapon name) into a “Bleeding Pain in the Axe” (made up name).
Skills, Buffs, and Debuffs
Outward has survival elements implemented in, as well as your standard “this skeleton might kill me” fare. Cold, hunger, thirst. All things that could kill you at any moment, but I don’t think that’s enough. New to The Soroboreans is corruption. No information is given about how one goes about becoming corrupted, but it will have different levels that affect you in distinct ways. If you let it get too far? Ya dead. Careful, now.
If new negative effects are headed your way then surely there have to be new positive ones, yes? Of course, probably. No specifics have been given, other than these could completely change the gameplay. Also, these new skills and effects are meant to help you battle the oncoming corruption, so expect a tie-in there.
Release
Due out in Spring of 2020, there isn’t a set date applied to The Soroboreans. What do you think? With the new enchanting system, corruption, and (barely) teased skills, will this new Outward DLC be a pickup for you?
