Please note that Maneater has received an ESRB rating of M for Mature, PEGI 18 rating, and USK 16 rating, so is not suitable for young audiences. A new trailer has dropped for Maneater, the Jaws type gaming experience. In Maneater, you roam the seas as everyone’s favourite swimming killing machines, sharks.
This interesting looking project comes from publishers Deep Silver and Tripwire Interactive and comes from the Development teams Tripwire Interactive and Blindside Interactive. The former being responsible for Killing Floor, Killing Floor 2, both Rising Storm Games and both Red Orchestras, while the latter are a new development studio collaborating with Tripwire Interactive.
Pre-Alpha gameplay of this open world Shark RPG game was shown last year and displayed a number of exciting features. One such feature was a day night cycle that not only affects the look of the world you swim through and wreak havoc on, but the location and frequency you will encounter aquatic wildlife, humans and other marine apex predators.
In this latest trailer we can see the RPG elements come into effect. You can evolve your fishy fellow by working your way up the food chain, eating both wildlife and people in order to get upgrades. These upgrades can tailor how you chow down on everything, such as altering your ability to survive longer on land.
The end goal of the shark you play as is to take revenge on a human player that disfigures you at the beginning of the game. There are also numerous secret locations outside of the main game which help show off the open world aspects of this game too, so be sure to explore.
Maneater launches May 22nd, 2020 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, with a release on Nintendo Switch later in 2020.
