In an unexpected but exciting announcement, 343 Industries has officially announced that Halo Infinite’s multiplayer will be free-to-play! Alongside this exciting news, the team has also released some further details about the multiplayer which sound promising.
After heavy rumours and even a potential leak from an Irish retail store called Smyths Toys; 343 Industries took to Twitter to officially announce that Halo Infinite’s multiplayer will be free-to-play, and support up to 120FPS on the Xbox Series X. They also revealed that they would share more details about this at a later date.
Red vs. Blue
An official blog post revealed a few extra tidbits of news about the multiplayer as well. Equipment items such as the Grapple-Shotshot will be available as item pickups on maps. The customisation will be similar to that of Halo Reach; and for those worried about micro-transactions, it was also confirmed that the game will not include real-money loot boxes.
Due to the reality of working from home, the team is unsure on what may be possible as far as beta testing or flight goes for the multiplayer. They’re looking for opportunities for a broader public hands-on before release, but no further details were discussed. However, the goal of relying on flights & continued feedback will continue on past the launch of Halo Infinite, with updates and new content.
