Gamers will be happy to know that you can now stream Xbox games to Apple devices with Xbox remote play. As part of Microsoft’s newly updated Xbox app for iOS, simply stream games from your console to your iPhone or iPad. Android users have already had this feature as part of the recently updated Xbox app. So, it’s nothing new for them. However, Apple users can now see this as a step in the right direction after the debacle of no access to Xbox GamePass.
Although Apple users still don’t have access to Xbox GamePass’ catalogue of games, this is a good move for gamers. Simply start up your Xbox One console and stream your game library to your Apple device for free.
In addition to the recent Xbox UI redesign, the new Xbox app features a new notification system and Xbox Party & Chat. Also, the Share feature makes it easier to share your game clips and screenshots to your favourite social media sites.
According to Xbox Wire, “The new Xbox app (Beta) has been rewritten from the ground up making it easier for all gamers to stay connected to your friends, games and fun at home or on the go, no matter what device they prefer to play on.”
So, what do I need for Xbox remote play?
All you need is a compatible iPhone/iPad, an Xbox One console, an Xbox profile and a good internet connection. Lastly, you will need an Xbox Wireless Controller with Bluetooth. With this in mind, the original Xbox One controllers (pre-Bluetooth) won’t work here.
The Xbox app is available now, so head on to the Apple’s App Store (iOS) and hit download. To keep up to date with Xbox announcements, check out Xbox news as it comes in thick and fast. For a wider array of gaming news, visit Informed Pixel and follow us on Twitter and Facebook.
