PlayStation Plus is starting to become a better deal for those who subscribe. While most games that are given away “free” are older and less popular games, Sony is slowly but surely changing that perception. It’s not likely that their 1st-party AAA games will arrive there, but the games they have been adding are a step up from last generation.
Rocket League and Fall Guys began this trend with their rise to prominence in E-sports; Bugsnax and Destruction Allstars will continue the debuts on PlayStation 5 (December and February). But before then, Worms Rumble will debut as a PlayStation Plus title in December 2020.
A Holiday Gift to Keep You Worm
Don’t expect the same-ol’ invertebrates, because there will be some changes. Instead of turn-based and slower combat, the new iteration will be in real-time.
One aspect that will remain is the multiplayer; it will allow up to 32 players at a time, and will also feature cross-platform playability. Some of the modes available at launch include Deathmatch, Last Worm Standing, and squad Battles Royale.
People come to a Worms game expecting a wide range of strange and appealing weapons. Team17 wants this to remain, adding new weapons alongside some of the favourites like the Bazooka, Holy Hand Grenade, Baseball Bat and Hand Cannon. Experience earned will allow players to customize their worms with skins, emotes, and outfits.
It should also be no surprise that Worms Rumble will borrow the Seasonal Events playbook, with daily and community challenges. A lab has also been created where players can test out the various weapons they earn.
The game will be added to PlayStation Plus in December alongside Just Cause 4 and Rocket Arena. For people who have a subscription, Worms Rumble will debut as a PlayStation Plus title as of December 1st, 2020. It is to be available until January 4th, 2021 for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The PC version will release on the same day, you’ll just have to pay to access it.
