Since the announcement of Halo Infinite’s delay in August 2020, 343 Industries has kept a tight lip on any news on the game. That is until now, as Halo Infinite Project Lead Joseph Staten has released some important launch details in the first of hopefully many Inside Infinite articles!
The Halo Infinite campaign demo had a lot more feedback than the studio seemed to be expecting; and as Staten stepped into his role, the team was scrambling to address the feedback. He stated that it ultimately came down to the truth that they needed more time; and thus the game was delayed to ensure it would fulfil its infinite potential!
“Truly, Halo Infinite is a world in which I love spending time and that I’m thrilled to return to, both as a designer and a player. On behalf of the entire team, thank you for your patience and your passion. We can’t wait for you to join us on the Halo Infinite adventure, first with Insider flighting later next year, and then when we ship in Fall 2021.” Joseph Staten
Yes, this confirms that Halo Infinite will release in Fall 2021; and the the game will have Insider Flighting! This is excellent news, as the Insider Flights gives the team more feedback with a great deal of flexibility. This is also great news for fans, as those signed up will have the chance to play Halo Infinite a bit early!
Extra Infinite Goodies!
The launch window wasn’t the only major detail to be revealed in the Inside Infinite blogpost! A few work-in-progress images revealing a new multiplayer map were released; showing off the game’s improved environmental graphics and lighting affects.
While not much information about the Free-to-Player multiplayer or its’ new map has been revealed; these new images give fans something to look forward too entering 2021. That being said, some information and screenshots for the multiplayer armour coatings have been revealed to hold us over.
Several work-in-progress spartan renders with the new armour coating system have been shown off; all of which are in-engine and look absolutely stunning! One of the most notable ones revealed is the Watchdog armour & skin coating that players will receive if they reach SR-152 in Halo 5 Guardians (seen below)!
While info on them is still scarce, 343 Industries has stated that they want players to be able to express themselves; and will not feature any lootbox randomness or items that influence the sandbox and gameplay in any way. More information about customization and armour coatings will be revealed in 2021.
