Each and every year, Valve hosts the event called the Dota 2 International Tournament. As the summer time approaches, Valve has released the details surrounding the tournament including ticket pricing and tournament dates.
The main event will be held in the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington from August 8th to August 13th, a venue which has hosted previous Dota 2 International Tournaments. Valve has also announced two different tickets which will be available for the event: The Midweek ticket and the Finals Ticket. The Midweek ticket will grant access to the Key Arena from August 8th to August 11th and will run for $75 USD while the Finals ticket will grant access to the last two days of the event including the grand finals, where the winner will take home the multi-million dollar grand prize. Although the prices of admission may seem high, it is anticipated to be one of the biggest gaming tournaments to date, as per usual. Regional qualifiers for the tournament follow the open qualifiers starting on June 21st for open and June 25th for regional.
Many Dota fans yearn for this tournament as it is the biggest and most enjoyable event of the year. Each year, the Dota 2 International Tournament reaches millions of dollars for it’s prize pool, thanks to the Dota 2 Compendium which launches a couple months before the event. Last year, the prize pool reached an astounding $16 Million, with Evil Geniuses taking home the $6 Million grand prize.
We can’t wait to see what the community will drag in for this year’s prize pool, but one thing is for certain – we can hardly wait.
