Nickelodeon have teamed up with Nordic Games as the ‘rehydrated’ SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated is being ported to mobile. In addition, a mobile gameplay trailer has been made available on the Handy Games YouTube channel.
A part of the Nordic Games family, Handy Games, boasts that the game comes with no paywall or microtransactions. This will come as promising news to fans of the game, knowing they will access the full version of the game with just one payment.
This new release is a port of the existing game onto mobile devices, available on IOS and Android. Originally made in 2003, the game was remade in 2020 with updated graphics on console. The only differences from the console game being a lack of multiplayer mode according to a tweet made by Handy Games.
The fan favourite game was able to keep its silly humour, as is famous in the franchise. The cult classic 3D platformer follows the same plot as the original game, with the player being tasked with defeating the rogue robots that have invaded Bikini Bottom. Also the player can control favourites of Bikini Bottom, including Sandy, SpongeBob and Patrick.
Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated is available for pre order on the Apple app store, as well as pre-register on the Google play store. The game is set to release January 21st, 2021 for £8.99.
