Live-action trailers don’t really get used for video games anymore. If memory serves me right I do believe the last live-action trailer was for Destiny or even Halo 5?
Either way, trailers using live-action can go one of two ways. It’s either spectacular and conveys the message to the viewer, or it’s terrible. Thankfully Bloober Team – developers of upcoming horror game The Medium have done the latter.
The team behind previous horror titles such as; The Blair Witch, Layers of Fear and Observer are no strangers to the horror genre. This new live-action trailer sets out to showcase the duel-world set up of The Medium, where the games protagonist is able to transport between the two vastly different worlds.
Whilst the trailer doesn’t show a lot of the actual game, it’s quite a moody yet horrific affair – with plenty of screaming throughout. We see plenty of children in creepy masks, a strange young girl, and The Medium’s protagonist in action.
We also see one of the games many monstrosities as it make quite a grand entrance. What does this all mean? Well at this point no one apart from Bloober Team knows, but doesn’t it look good!
Sporting a strong Silent Hill vibe, The Medium is shaping up to be a pretty strong contender for this year’s horror crown. With renowned composer Akira Yamaoka on board, The Medium not only looks good, it will sound the part too!
The Medium is coming to PC, Xbox Series S & Xbox Series X on January 29th, 2021, and will also be part of the Xbox Gamepass service.
