GamePass is the gift that keeps on giving! Sea of Thieves embarks on a new venture with the arrival of Seasons. Fans of the game can access brand new voyages, events, and rewards right now, for free, as part of Season One.
Each Season will last approximately three months, bringing new progression to the game. Advancing through each level in the Season will unlock a reward, for example: gold, Doubloons, cosmetics and Ancient Coins. In total, there are 100 levels to make your way through in Season One.
Renown, rewards and more!
Sail the seas and play the game as you normally would to build your Renown. This ensures you can always get something from each play. Therefore, you are always being rewarded, instead of cashing in loot. Completing Trials also increases your Renown exponentially, so you have many options for advancement.
Tackling undead marauders for Soul Fragments and obtaining the Order of Souls weapon set is also part of Season One. In addition, Sea of Thieves Partnered streamers will provide more Twitch Drops. With all of these new gameplay opportunities, there is an enormous amount of content to shiver your timbers.
Lost Shipment Voyages is a new way to interact with the Merchant Alliance. Seek out clues to sunken treasure (well, deliveries really) that went down with the ships. Build on your reputation by retrieving Cargo Manifests. Even after the Season is over, players can continue to play the Lost Shipment Voyages as a permanent feature in the main game.
Lastly, as part of a technical update, Sea of Thieves on Xbox Series X gets a Performance Mode option. Players can now enable a stunning 120FPS at 1080p to prioritise fluidity over aesthetics. So, to access the performance option, simply head to the Settings menu to switch over. However, bear in mind that only 120hz supported TVs are compatible with this mode.
To be Free, or not to be Free? That is the question.
The Plunder Pass is an entirely optional purchase (similar to the Battle Pass of other games) to expand the reward pool. However, one of the main differences between this and similar, competitive services, is this does not affect gameplay.
Players, whether they have the Plunder Pass or not, can still access all 100 levels of Season One. This pass gives the chance to gain premium in-game rewards from the Pirate Emporium, such as; weapons, equipment, emotes and ship cosmetics. However, you would need to progress through the system to unlock the rewards before the season finishes.
So, if you are looking to maximise your rewards, the Plunder Pass is one way to get you there. Players can get each Season’s Plunder Pass for 999 Ancient Coins. Ancient Coins can be purchased at the Microsoft Store, or at the Pirate Emporium. However, you can use your skills to gain Ancient Coins by defeating rare Ancient Skeletons in-game.
