After much anticipation, Treyarch has finally released their first update for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. It included a brand-new Zombies mode that released on the February 4th, 2021.
Treyarch’s new zombies map, Firebase Z, sees your operator once again step into the shoes of a member of an elite task force known as Requiem, which is commanded by long time Black Ops character Grigori Weaver.
Along with the addition of Firebase Z comes the sought-after continuation of the zombie’s mode storyline, with the addition of a new Easter Egg quest. It also includes numerous new pieces of intel and side quests that only enhance the player’s experience.
Gameplay wise, this new patch introduced a new perk in the form of Tombstone Soda, which sees its first official zombies’ appearance since Black Ops II’s release in 2012.
For fans of Dead Ops Arcade, a new solo advanced start mode has been introduced, along with Firebase Z Endless and Firebase Z Round 20 playlists being added.
Zombies was not the only mode to see new content added though. Multiplayer saw the addition of a classic Black Ops II map, along with a new game mode and several other minor additions.
Along with the update, the Black Ops II map Express makes its way to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer. The Zombies Onslaught mode (exclusive the PlayStation players) also released, along with a new 40 player mode called Endurance.
Gunfight also saw new additions, with Nuketown ’84 being added to map rotation, along with the popular 2v2 / 3v3 modes now being added to custom games.
Along with these improvements we also saw the addition of various new playlists to multiplayer, including Express 24/7, Endurance FTDB, Gunfight Blueprints, Prop Hunt, 3v3 Gunfight Snipers Only, Face Off (3v3) and Nuketown 24/7.
