The highly anticipated first-person puzzle shooter by developer Arkane Studios and publisher Bethesda Studios DEATHLOOP has received a brand-new trailer.
The Game Director of DEATHLOOP, Dinga Bakaba took time in the trailer to answer various questions surrounding the games narrative, and introduced us to some of the many upcoming gameplay aspects that will accompany the title.
DEATHLOOP sees the player take control of an assassin (Colt), who is stuck in an endless time loop on the island of Blackreef. The island makes the inhabitants repeat the same day over and over again.
The main aim of the upcoming title is to eliminate 8 targets, known as Visionaries, before the day is up and you’re forced to start from the very beginning.
In the trailer, Bakaba clarified that whilst the game is about time, the player is not on a timer and is ultimately free to progress through each day at their own pace. The aim of each player is to piece together the perfect loop so their character can gain their freedom.
Bakaba also touched briefly on the games rival assassin Julianna, who according to the trailer is the games “most powerful Visionary.” The player will also be able to make use of varying supernatural abilities, and have access to a wide variety of artefacts that modify weapons.
DEATHLOOP is set to release on PlayStation 5 and PC on May 21st, 2021 with the release to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S coming on May 21st, 2022.
