This week gaming reached a milestone with Resident Evil’s 25th Anniversary. That’s a whole twenty five years of zombie biting fun! In celebration, we are getting a fresh look at the upcoming Resident Evil Village and more! There is a flesh chunk worth of information to sink our teeth into, so let’s get straight to it.
Resident Evil April Showcase
If you are looking forward to Resident Evil Village, you should definitely be keeping your eyes and ears open in April 2021. Mainly because we will be getting another Resident Evil showcase. The element of surprise is key here, so expect minimal information between now and then.
However, if January’s showcase is anything to go by, we can expect some juicy updates of the upcoming game. Also, do keep a look out on social media and Informed Pixel for any updates closer to the time.
Resident Evil Re:Verse Open Beta
If you missed out on the closed beta, you will be pleased to know the open beta will be available from April 7th, 2021 to April 11th, 2021. You can access this open beta on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam, so there is a wide area of access for players to easily jump into.
If you don’t have the closed beta downloaded already, simply preload the open beta from April 5th, 2021. Lastly, if you are new to the beta, you will need to register a Capcom ID here.
So, what is Resident Evil Re:Verse? Simply put, it is a set of multiplayer battles with your favourite characters across key Resident Evil locations. Players can choose Chris Redfield, Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, Ada Wong and Hunk as part of the selection. Basically, the goal is to build up your point score by taking down enemy players with unique weapons and skills.
However, be careful because once you do, you will definitely have a target on your back! Players that you take down can rise up and become their very own bioweapon with new abilities. After being taken down, your transformation really depends on how many vials of virus samples you collected during human form. Therefore, it is even entirely possible to rise up as the infamous Nemesis.
Ultimately, it will be a strategic balance between vial collection and full-on attack. As expected, the open beta is a free download. However, purchasing Resident Evil Village will allow you to download the full version of Resident Evil Re:Verse for free when it becomes fully available.
Stadia customers can now join in on the scares!
If you are gaming on the Stadia platform, Resident Evil is coming to get you too. Resident Evil Village is releasing on Stadia at the same time as other platforms in May. In addition to this, Resident Evil 7 biohazard Gold Edition is being released on Stadia as well.
With this, Stadia users can follow the events of Ethan’s horror adventure and his struggles with the Baker family. Resident Evil 7 biohazard Gold Edition will be available for free with Stadia Pro from April 1st, 2021. The game will also be available as a stand-alone purchase.
Resident Evil’s 25th Anniversary is an important milestone for Capcom and the fans, and a lot has happened over the past quarter of a century! From our first introduction to THAT mansion, the B-Movie style full motion video, and zombie infested police stations, to remasters, remakes and everything in between. In conclusion, it is safe to say Resident Evil is a staple in video games and it is here to stay.
Many entry points of play and to purchase
Whether you are a digital or physical consumer, pre-orders are available now for Resident Evil Village. There is a digital Standard and Deluxe Edition option for all platforms. However, console players also have access to a physical Standard and a Collector’s Edition.
The digital Deluxe Edition comes with the base game and a digital “Trauma Pack”. This includes an in-game Samurai Edge weapon, tape recorder save point option, and a found-footage screen filter. The latter is inspired by Resident Evil 7 biohazard. In addition, the digital Deluxe Edition gives players instant access to a harder difficulty setting.
The physical Collector’s Edition includes all of this and more. Collectors will benefit from a Chris Redfield statue, a Steel Book case, art book, key art as an A4 print, and a cloth map of the village.
Resident Evil Village is coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Steam and Stadia. The game will be available from May 7th, 2021. In North America, PlayStation 4 purchases will be entitled to a free digital upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version.
In addition, Xbox One purchases will benefit from Smart Delivery, so the game will be playable on Xbox Series S and X at no additional cost.
