SEGA’s classic rail shooter, The House of the Dead, is getting a remake for Nintendo Switch, a new trailer has announced. In it, the zombie game from 1997 is shown with its enduring arcade gameplay in remastered HD visuals.
The House of the Dead: Remake is being published by Forever Entertainment and bolsters the well-known arcade classic with modern graphics and controls. Just like the original, the whole game can be played in 2-player co-op for anxiety-inducing, fast-paced survival against hordes of the undead.
Forever Entertainment released the Panzer Dragoon: Remake last year, another classic rail shooter from 1995. In a tweet from two years ago, they announced that they would be remaking both the first and second House of the Dead games. There has been no information on the second one yet.
The House of the Dead series has received five mainstream titles, and many spin-offs. While the last release, House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn, was published in 2018, there have been mentions of further sequels and the remake is sure to revive interest in the series.
The trailer also showed one of the game’s cinematics featuring the antagonist Dr Curien. You can see a comparison between the original and updated character models below.
The House of the Dead: Remake will release in 2021 on Nintendo Switch. For more announcements on upcoming games, keep coming back to Informed Pixel! Are you excited for the House of the Dead remake? Let us know over at our Informed Pixel Facebook and Twitter pages.
