Insomniac Games have finally answered the question that has been jumping around the Ratchet & Clank community for the last month or so. What is the name of the new Lombax shown in the new Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart trailers?
The new Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart title set to release in just under 2 months now on June 11th, 2021, exclusive to PlayStation 5. Insomniac Games have released a new gameplay trailer, which has brought with it not only a look into how the game will function, but also provided some brand-new story information.
One of the games new protagonists, a Lombax called Rivet is a resistance fighter living in an alternate dimension to our usual main duo. Players will be used to Ratchet & Clank ultimately coming out on top against their enemy Dr. Nefarious, but in Rivet’s universe, Nefarious is an emperor who rules all and hunts down anyone who would oppose him.
Along with the new weapons and familiar areas returning to the game, Marcus Smith, Creative Director at Insomniac Games, announced that Mark Mothersbaugh, co-founder of the band DEVO, and responsible for the music heard in games like the original Crash Bandicoot trilogy and Jak & Daxter, will be composing the soundtrack for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

Smith also showed off the 5 skins that’ll be made available to those who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition, with all the available skins being useable on both Ratchet and Rivet. These skins include the Imperial, Scavenger, Android, Rebel and Hacker suits.
