Coming in fast after a wildly successful inaugural year, Lamborghini eSports announced on May 20th, 2021 that their international The Real Race will take place once again in 2021.
Featuring over 2500 drivers from 109 countries, The Real Race 2020 exploded onto the scene in the middle of last year. Above it all, this event is a continued effort by Lamborghini to elevate those that strive to participate on the biggest stages in eSports.
Building on a Good Foundation
The Real Race 2021 looks to surpass it’s commencement year by offering a new global approach. While drivers will continue to compete in traditional Grand Prix events, this year also offers three Endurance races that will provide drivers the ability to rack up points inside of their respective leaderboards.
In true tournament style fashion, drivers will go through a gauntlet of opening qualifying races running weekdays Monday – Friday. Next, the top 40 drivers from the qualifiers move onto closed qualifiers hosted every Saturday. Finally, the top 20 participants from the closed qualifiers go on to participate in The Real Race.
Stressing their commitment to the genre, Lamborghini’s Chief Marketing and Sales Officer Federico Foschini explains;
“eSports is a field where we want to play a major role. The Real Race is a six months-long event that allows players to live the thrill of true competition through the preparation and participation in races against some of the best sim racers in the world.”
Dedicated to Simulation
Driving the event (pun intended) is Assetto Corsa Competizione (ACC). Developed by KUNOS-Simulazioni Srl, ACC is a sports car racing simulator currently available on current and previous gen Xbox and PlayStation consoles, as well as Windows 10.
A studio with almost 15 years in specializing in developing driving simulations, KUNOS-Simulazioni Srl seems to have hit it’s stride with ACC, racking up nearly 10,000 total reviews on Steam giving the game a Very Positive rating.
