Ever since March 3, 2017, the Nintendo Switch has gone one become one of the fastest-selling and most recognisable household named consoles out to date. While this is great for Nintendo and fans, this has not stopped speculation and rumours that an improved version of the console would eventually drop somewhere this year.
While talks may have died down after E3, Nintendo has announced a new Switch model on July 6, 2021, along with a trailer!
The New Switch
The new model announced is the Nintendo Switch OLED Model and does have some new things going on for it. For starters, the new model comes with a 7-inch OLED screen, giving players a bigger screen to play on when in Handheld Mode.
It also is packed with a wider stance than Switch’s Scree can adjust to make it more comfortable to play on a table, along with a new dock that now has a LAN port, 64GB Internal Storage, and improved audio.
Outside of this new information, not much else has changed with the model. There are no drastic changes, nor is there any information that the Joy-Cons have been improved from the recent controversy of players suffering from the controllers drifting during gameplay.
There will be accessories that will be made exclusively for this model, but unfortunately, this is the only other exciting news that comes with this announcement.
For those looking to pick up this new model, it will launch on October 8, 2021, and will be priced at $349.99. This will release alongside Metroid Dread, so those looking to pick up the game along with a new Switch will be in luck. It will also have two colours that players can choose from Classic Neon Red/Blue and White.
