Infinity Ward have dropped the first details for the release of the highly anticipated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. The new trailer is the first preview of gameplay for the latest in the series and follow up from Modern Warfare (2019).

In the action packed trailer, there was plenty to enjoy for fans of the iconic Modern Warfare series. The trailers wastes little time to set the scene, with the immediate cinematic footage of the player falling from a helicopter before beginning an assault on vehicles below. In addition, the trailer gives a look into the plot of the campaign mode, with confirmation that it is a sequel to Modern Warfare (2019).
Furthermore, the main headline from the trailer is the return of task force 141. The operating team was made famous in the previous Modern Warfare games. Making an iconic return are ‘Ghost’, ‘Soap’ and Price. In addition, task force 141 has a new team member, Mexican special forces member Alejandro Vargas.
Returning Game Modes and Further Details
Moreover, the campaign looks to bring a mix of nostalgia for existing fans and refreshing new scenic missions to keep you engaged. Upon completion, players can look forward to teaming up with a friend to take on the ‘evolved’ special ops mode. Returning to the series, special operations sees a variety of tactical challenges that push your team skills to the limit.
Finally, multiplayer continues to move forward with the series and offers some exciting new features. As well as a new next generation engine, Modern Warfare II brings an array of new maps and game modes. The gunsmith has been revamped and will offer a range of upgrades for guns and loadouts.
The other news coming from the Call of Duty franchise includes details regarding updates to Warzone. The vastly popular game-mode has been running alongside releases since 2020. However, Infinity Ward are leading developments for Warzone 2.0. The free to play mode will release seperately from Modern Warfare II and feature new sandbox and playspace modes.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is set for release on October 28th, 2022. It is currently available for preorder for £59.99/£69.99 depending on platform. Available platforms include PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC Battle.net, and Steam PC.
