Nintendo held a Nintendo Direct in mid-September, and with it came a lot of big news. Fans awaited news for the next Legend of Zelda title, and were not disappointed when The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was revealed.
The final trailer of the Nintendo Showcase dropped, and The Legend Of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s music started to play. Even though the trailer was only two minutes, an official title and release date was enough to steal the show. Link is back, with a sky islands to explore, and new abilities to help!
The trailer starts off with various murals lit by fire light, all while Breath of the Wild like music plays. It then cuts to Link opening a large door and running across some grass before leaping off a cliff. As the camera follows Link, he opens his arms and skydives through a cloud and towards the ground.
Various shots of him climbing up and falling back down are shown until Link lands on what seems to be a glider. That’s when the trailer ends, with the title coming into focus, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. As the title fades away, the release date is shown, May 12th, 2023.
Not much is known about the story since it was announced back at E3 in 2019. From the first trailer, it doesn’t look like Ganon or Ganondorf will the the main villain this time around, giving us a new antagonist. Link also has new powers, new abilities, and a new hair style this time around.
Previous trailers have also shown a much darker conflict than in previous titles. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is shaping up to be next years smash hit with everything revealed so far. Be sure to check out the trailer above if you haven’t done so already.
