Are you craving some more of that Disney magic in your life? Well then ‘oh boy!’ is their big news for you! Today during the February 2023 Nintendo Direct, the release date for everyone’s favourite mouse’s next big playable adventure, Disney Illusion Island, has been announced!
If you’re a “Disney Adult” you may have already had your eyes on this game, as we originally saw it announced along with brief footage at the D23 Expo last September. During this preview, there was no release date included, and the game had since been listed on the Nintendo E-shop indicating only 2023, with no pre-order available. (Yes, I have been frequently checking.)
Disney Illusion Island comes to us from Disney Games in collaboration with Dlala Studios. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because Dlala also teamed with Xbox Game Studios and Rare for the 2020 Battletoads game revival.
Mickey and his friends will trek their way around the various biomes of the mysterious island Month, as they work together to recover three mystical books and save the world. The newest footage seems to show wacky antics, puzzles, adorable moments, and epic boss battles. Even neater- you and up to 3 friends can all experience the adventure together via couch co-op. The team has notably decided to use the newest art styles of each of the characters, which looks as if it will really add to the fun and splashy vibes this game already exudes while sticking with the hand-drawn animation and charm audiences love from them.
