With the next instalment in the beloved Diablo franchise coming out in less than 4 months, fans were getting anxious about when we would get details on the beta. IGN go out back during their FanFest while discussing things with Joe Shely, game director for Diablo IV. Not only did we get a date for when the beta will launch, but we also got a second date for the open beta.
Joe opened up the interview by discussing the cinematics of DIablo IV and the fact that now your customized character will be seen. These will be pre-rendered cinematics that the team over at Blizzard had to work in a way that made your character will feel like they belong. From the artists to the lighting team, it seems like a lot of work was put into making sure we felt immersed in the world of Sanctuary.
It seems like they are focusing more story elements on characters in the world than in previous games. Diablo IV will take about 30 hours to complete, but there will be numerous side quests to help flesh out this world we’ve come to love. With over 140 dungeons to explore, the forces of Lilith will keep you on your toes.
The big question heading into March is “when is the beta?” They announced last year that there would be one but didn’t give out any more information until now. Players that pre-ordered Diablo IV, can expect to play the beta from March 17th-19th. Everyone else will have to wait till March 24th-26th to get their chance to play.
The beta won’t have a time limit besides the dates so you can play as much as you want. The level cap will be 25, which is a quarter of the cap for the real game. The beta will consist of the prologue and all of Act One, which takes place in Trasher Peaks. You can complete all side quests and main missions that are to be found in those two chapters. The progress made in the closed beta will be transferred to the open beta to continue but will be wiped after the 26th.
