Disney Dreamlight Valley gets its fourth major update since its September release tomorrow- April 5th. This update comes with fixes for a myriad of issues, as well as a new star path to pursue.
ISsue Fixes
Though it is not without its bugs and other issues, I do have to say that I’ve found myself continuously impressed with developer Gameloft’s responsiveness and commitment to Dreamlight Valley. They’re generally aware of and track issues via a publicly accessible issue tracker.
This update includes fixes for the following:
- Companion Behavior Bugs- Specifically companions blocking player character
- Bugs preventing progression in multiple previously released quests
- Intermittent camera and visual clipping or glitching
- Update to item icons to improve the ability to discern shard types
- Improvements to the premium shop experience
New Quests, New Friends
Update four is being called “Pride of the Valley”, and with good reason. We will unlock one more of the mysterious unmarked doors in the castle- this one into the Pridelands. Here we will meet Simba and Nala, and we will need to assist them with their own personal quest in hopes of wooing them into becoming the newest residents of Dreamlight Valley.
Buzz Lightyear also requests backup on some issues of the space invader kind in a quest that will advance our friendship level with him.
Additionally, we will get to not only meet some new animal ‘companions’, but we will meet a couple of extraordinary dreamlight-infused companions. We will also be able to spoil them, similar to our IRL pets, by gaining the ability to craft toys and items just for them.
Disney Park content
Though Dreamlight Valley is packed with content and always gaining more, I had one major complaint from the beginning- I needed more Disney park-related content! It appears that Gameloft has finally heard the cries of the park enthusiasts!
We’re receiving this update on our park rides available for placement in our valley. These will include the Pixar Pal-A-Round, Dumbo the Flying Elephant and Mad Tea Party rides. It appears some park-themed apparel may also be coming to Scrooge’s shop.
Scrooge’s shop
Scrooge’s in-shop items rotate daily, yet they sometimes feel stale. This update should help with that! We’re getting a big refresh of the store with many new items being added to the shop rotation. These will include bathroom fixtures and mushroom-themed furniture sets. Proving that Gameloft knows its audience with this update- an RGB gamer gear collection encompassing Mickey ears, a gaming laptop, a gaming chair, and a jacket- will be available as well.
Easter Eggstravaganza
Keep your eyes peeled for those colourful shells! The in-game Easter “Eggstravaganza” event will be running April 8th-29th, which will surely find our valleys scattered with the colourful trademark holiday eggs. Good news- confirmed there will be no terrifying Zipper T. Bunny sitings in this valley.
Additional new features
- Ability to “rest” anywhere in the valley and slowly recover health instead of needing to consume resources or return home.
- Improvements to the “Well-Fed” bonus gained when eating cooked meals.
- A new movement ability, Hover, will be available when the “Well-Fed” bonus is in effect.
- A new selfie pose for each animal companion is available in photo mode.
