Well my fellow gamers, we are in the month of July. Since there is no stopping the passage of time, why not at least make it enjoyable with this week’s game releases? We have a survival horror, a VR shooter, and a retro RPG waiting in the wings. There’s also a Mega-Man-style platformer and a 2D action-puzzle game to round out the week.
July 4
Synapse– PlayStation VR2
- The first VR game to grace the weekly game release article. You play as a mind-breaking agent who must infiltrate the subconscious of an enemy of the state. Use your telekinetic powers and trusty weapons to battle through surreal levels. Will you find what you are looking for, or is the mind too powerful to break?
July 6
Alterium Shift– PC
- A retro-inspired RPG where your choices matter. Choose from one of three heroes and try to prevent a catastrophic conflict. Each hero has their own story, which intertwines with each other as their journey moves forward. Will you save two worlds in conflict, or are the choices too difficult?
Gimmick! Special Edition– Switch, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox One
- This Nintendo classic returns with a special edition bringing several new features. You play as Yumetaro, a star-summoning star creature, as you tackle challenges and traverse platforms to get those enemies. Check out the new Time Attack Mode and online leaderboards to show you are truly the superior star.
Gylt– PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox One, Series X/S
- This survival horror game was originally only available on Google Stadia. Now that Stadia has shut down, Gylt is coming to multiple platforms. You follow the character of Sally as she navigates a nightmare world looking for her missing cousin. Use your flashlight to solve puzzles while sneaking past enemies in an attempt to escape your fate.
July 7
Tad: The Lost Explorer– Switch
- This 2D adventure will have you solve puzzles and survive adversities as you try to cure a mysterious curse. Travel to Chicago, Paris, Veracruz, and Cairo in search of an emerald tablet that may hold answers. Will you save your friends, or will the curse run its course?
