Now that the winds of E3 have died down, it’s time to reflect on some of the exciting announcements that transpired last week. One of the things that has been bothering me since June 12th, when EA held their Press Conference, was when their AAA shooters Titanfall 2 and Battlefield 1 would be released.
Battlefield 1 is one of the most anticipated titles to be released this year, with its release date set for October 21st, 2016 – One week before the arrival of Titanfall 2. Both titles are set to arrive on the same platforms too, the Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC (via Origin).
This year, Titanfall will be losing it’s Xbox One exclusivity and moving multi-platform, being playable on most current-generation platforms. A key feature of Titanfall 2 will be the inclusion of a single-player campaign, something that fans of the original game have been requesting out of the sequel. With all of this being announced, Titanfall 2 began climbing up in popularity, only to be shot down by the excitement surrounding Battlefield 1, EA’s flagship franchise.
Some fans may be upset by this comment, however marketing-wise, EA would be smart to push or delay Titanfall 2 to a late November/Early December release date in order to accommodate a steady stream of content instead of shotgunning their AAA titles in a span of a week. Not only that, but as a Canadian consumer, our economy has gone to crap, with games now retailing at $79.99 for your typical AAA title. With this in mind, some Canadian gamers can no longer justify purchasing two shooters in the span of a week, forcing many to choose one over the other.
Now, this is just my opinion, but with Battlefield 1′s popularity quickly rising, overshadowing Titanfall 2‘s popularity, won’t most players choose Battlefield 1 over Titanfall 2?
With both shooters scheduled to launch within a week of each other, it concerns me on what EA’s plan is for the month of October. Battlefield 1 is clearly the one in the spotlight, especially after its impressive showing at this year’s E3 and it should be concerning to EA that Battlefield 1‘s spotlight is definitely overshadowing Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall 2.
We had the opportunity to try both titles while we were attending E3 this year – You can see our impressions of the games here.
Titanfall 2 is scheduled to launch on October 28th, 2016. Battlefield 1 will launch on October 21st, 2016 with both titles being released for the Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC.

if this will be an alibi solo campaign i will also not buy this. i think devs should do more market research and check once and then what gamers really want. looking at all the dead multiplayer servers it is not mmos and onlineshooters.
Hmm, two very different shooters with very different feels that may just cater to very different gamers.
Neither of them is known much for campaign- the last Titanfall didn’t even HAVE one- so I don’t see why people wouldn’t be able to buy both.
It’s June right now. The games come out almost exactly four months from now. If you had the money for one, surely you can budget for the second. There’s also the option of not picking them up immediately at launch.
Weird? It shouldn’t be.
