SEGA has announced that Yakuza 0 will be arriving in Europe and North America on January 24th, 2017.
Yakuza 0 will show the power struggle between criminal organizations, which promises to have a lot context regarding the game’s origins.
Most of the game’s English subtitles will reflect what the characters are saying in Japanese, closer than what has been transcribed in previous games. Associate Localization Producer Scott Strichart states:
“We’re maintaining general-use honorifics in the English script. We’re leaving the original Japanese voices intact for the authenticity that only a Japanese voice actor could bring to a yakuza experience, so we took the opportunity to bring the subtitles you’re reading closer to what you’re actually hearing the characters say.”
Goro Majima, who is the head of the Majima family, was also announced to be a playable character in Yakuza 0. Goro will have his own set of unique skills and abilities, however, more information will be announced at a later date.
Yakuza 0 will be available exclusively for the Playstation 4.
