EA and Bioware may release remastered versions of the Mass Effect series.
The company straight out denied the existence of a remaster during E3 2015. The publishers were more focused on delivering new projects, rather than reproducing existing titles. Since this time, several revisited games have been announced including Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Bioshock: The Collection and Activision’s upcoming game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, which will be bundled with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
During Gamescom, Game Informer interviewed Patrick Soderlund, Executive Vice President of EA Studios. During the interview, Game Informer asked about where EA stands now when it comes to developing remastered titles.
“What’s changed is that there is proof in the market that people want it, maybe more than there was when we spoke.” Soderlund stated. “There were some that did it before, but I think there is even more clear evidence that this is something that people really want. The honest answer is that we are absolutely actively looking at it. I can’t announce anything today, but you can expect us most likely to follow our fellow partners in Activision and other companies that have done this successfully.”
Right now, we know that their teams are hard at work developing Mass Effect’s next entry Mass Effect: Andromeda. The game is preparing to launch early next year, and with it, the possibility of Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 remasters arriving on current-generation platforms.
Mass Effect: Andromeda is expected to arrive in March 2017.
