At PAX West 2016, we visited THQNordic’s booth to see what the Darksiders: Warmastered hype was all about.
THQ, now under the name THQNordic, is now releasing Darksiders: Warmastered Edition. Playing the demo at PAX, it seems that the Warmastered Edition doesn’t have a lot of new content, but does seem to look better than its predecessor. That being said, this demo of Darksiders: Warmastered did not look too much different from it’s predecessor, albeit it did look a bit sharper – but definitely not groundbreaking.
This could be due to the fact that the demo I played was on the Playstation 4, and not a PC that ships with native 4K support. Clearly, the game was still in development, as key features such as the “Kill-Move” were missing. Overall, I would hope that the development teams works to ensure that all of the original content and features of the original Darksiders are included with this title. If you want to see what Darksiders: Warmastered Edition will include, you can see our article about it here.
Darksiders was a game that came out in 2010, featuring large world ending enemies, and tons of equipment to use for the various puzzles scattered throughout the world. More of an underground success, Darksiders couldn’t quite compete with the more popular title Bayonetta. Originally made by THQ, the studio sold the rights to Darksiders to Nordic Games after THQ filed for bankruptcy. Since then, there was another Darksiders game, which was also not a fantastic seller, and it seemed like THQ had all but abandoned the series.
Darksiders: Warmastered Edition will release for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, Nintendo Wii U, and PC on October 25th, 2016.
