Developers of the much anticipated Yooka-Laylee, Playtonic, will be partnering with Team17 to publish their game.
Kickstarter has allowed the ex-Banjo-Kazooie developers to create this homage to 3D platformers, and now with Team17 providing additional development resources and add value to existing Kickstarter funding, the game should only get better. Here is what Playtonic had to say about the partnership:
“For backers and fans, it means you’ll no doubt benefit via a much better game, not just thanks to Team 17’s vast experience in areas such as QA testing and publishing, but also due to the extra time our team will now spend creating, instead of filling in giant spread sheets.”
In addition, it seems Team17 is interested in taking Yooka-Laylee to stores with a physical retail release. Sadly, nothing is 100% confirmed until we hear it from either Playtonic or Team17.
Yooka-Laylee is planned for release next October on all major platforms.
