Bethesda revealed that mod support and native 4K support would be coming to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition and Fallout 4 on the Playstation 4 & Playstation 4 Pro.
Bethesda guarantees The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition will contain these features when it is released for the Playstation 4 on October 28th. In anticipation for the game, Bethesda released 4K pictures to show off how the game will look for owners of the Playstation 4 Pro. The company also makes a point to state that mod support will be available for Skyrim before it is available for Fallout 4, but we know that it won’t be long before we see the Fallout 4 mod support launch.
In another fantastic piece of news, the publisher mentioned that the creation kit had been released for the Playstation 4 (you can get it via the download link on the announcement page). While Bethesda states that players will not be able to upload external assists, creators will be able to use all assets available in-game; though in this writer’s opinion, there is always a way to make a Macho Man Randy Savage mod!
After all of the work is completed for Skyrim, Bethesda states that they will be enhancing the Fallout 4 experience by providing mod support. Owners of the Playstation 4 Pro will be able to take advantage of the native 4K rendering support once the update is released. There is currently no release window for this content, but stay tuned to InformedPixel for further updates.
“We are excited finally to get modding to our PlayStation fans who have supported us for so long,” Bethesda said in the announcement. “Modding has been an important part of our games for over 10 years, and we hope to do even more in the coming year for all our players, regardless of platform.”
