We have learned that the Nintendo Switch is powered by Nvidia’s Tegra processor.
The graphics processor inside the Nintendo Switch will be none other than a custom Nvidia Tegra processor, capable of delivering beautiful visuals, even when not connected to its home dock. The processor was designed using Nvidia’s graphics technology and will be utilized in a way that will make it easy for developers to produce great content for Nintendo’s next generation console.
“The Nintendo Switch’s gaming experience is also supported by fully custom software, including a revamped physics engine, new libraries, advanced game tools and libraries,” Nvidia said in a blog post. “NVIDIA additionally created new gaming APIs to fully harness this performance. The newest API, NVN, was built specifically to bring lightweight, fast gaming to the masses.”
Unfortunately, we have yet to hear about any specifications regarding Nintendo’s new console, including what kind of power that this particular chip will provide. We will update our readers on this information as it rolls out.
Nvidia has been a popular choice for PC enthusiasts over the years. Earlier this year, Nvidia released the GTX 1080 Graphics card, which is capable of running next-generation games like Titanfall 2 in 4K at 60 frames-per-second.
The Nintendo Switch releases in March 2017.
