During BlizzCon’s opening ceremony this morning, Blizzard announced a few new details regarding upcoming content for Overwatch.
The biggest announcement was the reveal of the long-awaited character, Sombra, who has been teased and leaked over the last few weeks. Sombra will act as a stealth hero in Overwatch, as one of her first abilities allows her to go invisible for a short time. She comes to the battle with a Machine Pistol, a Translocator Beacon that allows her to teleport to the beacon’s location and a powerful EMP that hacks (silences) enemies and destroys barriers in an AOE effect. She will prove to become a different edition to Overwatch’s roster.
Two new maps, Oasis and Eco Point, were also revealed as part of Overwatch‘s announcements. Oasis is a desert-themed map that will be available in December. Eco Point, which is designed after the Overwatch character, Mei, will be offered in the new Arcade mode also announced today. Arcade Mode allows for 1v1 or 3v3 games to be played in quick succession. All of these updates will be available in the Public Test Realm (PTR) next Tuesday.
Overwatch is available for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
