Revealed this E3, Arkane Studios’ Prey blew away audiences with a great initial trailer, but nothing more was said about the sci-fi horror shooter until today, at 2016’s Game Awards, where audiences were once again dazzled.
The newest trailer, this time mostly focusing on gameplay, highlighted some of the more basic mechanics present in the game, such as gunplay typical of the genre, and a few spooky enemies. Most enticing though, was the emphasis on uniquely traversing Prey’s space station world using a variety of interesting tools and abilities. While a great deal of them are likely being kept secret, we did briefly witness the use of a gun that creates rocky outcroppings on walls to platform on, and a mysterious power that appears to let you slip through small openings like a gas. Ending in a heart-pounding chase scene, with a horrifying shadow monster in close pursuit, Prey promises an even more unique and exciting experience than even E3’s initial trailer had people hoping for.
Prey will be releasing in 2017 for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
