Square Enix is planning a major release lineup for 2017 as it marks Final Fantasy’s 30th anniversary since the first game was published.
The first bit of information is regarding Final Fantasy VII Remake, with the first part of the episodic series launching in 2017 for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One. Perhaps more interesting is that the PC versions of the game won’t launch until mid-2018, meaning the remake will remain a timed exclusive until then. The source also hints that Final Fantasy XV will release for the PC around this time, but no formal announcement has been made as of yet.
Secondly, a Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Collection will launch as a console exclusive for the Playstation 4 and Playstation Vita. According to the source, every single Final Fantasy game from I to XI will be included on the disc/card dependent on the version players purchase. Of course, this will include English translations of Final Fantasy II and Final Fantasy III for the first time, as these games never released in the Americas.
Lastly, a Final Fantasy XIII trilogy will release exclusively for the Playstation 4. It will include all three Final Fantasy XIII titles including Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII-2, and Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns. They will be released as a 3-disc set and will be playable in 1080p at 60 frames-per-second.
VGLeaks was the first outlet to report on these announcements. At the time of this writing, Square Enix has yet to make an official statement, but we have reached out to them for more information.
