Microsoft announced that they set some record-breaking numbers for 2016.
During the months of November and December in 2016, Xbox Live engagement reached an all-time high with more than 3.9 Billion Hours being logged on Xbox Live. This is an improvement of 23% when compared to the prior year. Over 400 games were released for the Xbox One in 2016, including the best-selling racing title Forza Horizon 3, which ushered in more than 14 million players on Xbox One and Windows 10 since its arrival in October.
Xbox Live gamers have spent more than 265 million hours playing Xbox 360 titles through the Xbox One Backward Compatibility feature. Games such as Red Dead Redemption, Skate 3, and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is quoted to have played a big part in this accomplishment.
These achievements are attributed to the Xbox One S, a platform that dominated sales throughout the later half of the year thanks to its excellent features. The Xbox One S ushered in up-scaled 4K Gaming, HDR support, and 4K streaming all packed inside a smaller form factor. Microsoft plans to surpass further these numbers with the release of the Project Scorpio, primed to ship to retailers this Fall.
