The Super Smash Bros. inspired title Rivals of Aether will leave early access on March 28th, 2017 via Steam.
The Xbox One version of the game is said to leave early access in late April/early May, but contain all of the same features as the PC version. Fans not wanting to wait the couple months to play the full version can purchase the early access version on Steam or Xbox Live.
When the full version of the game releases, players will gain access to all of the game’s modes, including Versus (Offline & Online), Story Mode, and Abyss Mode. The Versus Modes are very straight-forward, as they pit two players against one another in a battle arena. Abyss Mode is a new gameplay experience for fans wishing to propel their skills. In the mode, players will challenge incoming waves of enemies until they are defeated. Afterward, their progress is kept on a leaderboard to net some players some bragging rights with their friends.
Developer Dan Fornace was working on several Microsoft Published video games, most notably being Killer Instinct when it released as an Xbox One exclusive in 2013. Rivals of Aether has risen in popularity with the competitive scene since it’s arrival in late 2015, with the developers holding a Rivals of Aether tournament at PAX West 2016.
