If you purchased a Nintendo Switch, you more than likely picked up a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
According to figures reported by research firm SuperData, the Nintendo Switch sold well, moving more than 1.5 Million Units Worldwide. Of these consoles, an estimated 1.34 Million copies of Breath of the Wild flew off of retailer’s shelves, equating to 89% of console owners picking up a copy of the game alongside their shiny new console. It is worth nothing that the sales are reflective of the Nintendo Switch’s software sales, and not that of the Nintendo Wii U version.
These sales numbers are reflective of the first week of sales, meaning that these figures have undoubtedly gone up since their release. The overall success could be a result of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild‘s Metacritic score, holding a 97 after it’s release.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild released alongside the Nintendo Switch on March 3rd, 2017.
