Warner Bros. has named previous Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, Russell Arons, as the new General Manager of Machinima.
Arons will work alongside Machinima’s Current CEO, Chad Gutstein, who is resigning his position after the transition is completed. In the new role, Arons will head a large chunk of Machinima’s creative efforts, and as a gamer herself, she should fit in perfectly with her new role.
The announcement was made by Craig Hunegs, President of Warner Bros. Television Group and Warner Bros. Digital Networks Group.
“Russell is a terrific creative executive with exceptional audience experience and brand building capabilities. With deep knowledge in gaming, she speaks the same language as our Machinima creators, community and team, and has the proven ability to build and unlock strong consumer relationships,” said Hunegs. “In her new role, Russell will deepen Machinima’s relationship with an audience that’s important to many Warner Bros. divisions to further optimize our marketing and direct-to-consumer activities and serve as a hub for social video across the company.”
Machinima is one of the biggest growing companies on Youtube, as they have partnered with thousands of channels on the network to produce content. Machinima partners with creators who focus on gaming, from Minecraft to those new dc slots games at Casino.com; they have it all.
For those who may have missed it, Warner Bros. acquired Machinima for just under $100 Million USD according to sources at Variety. Machinima, who already has arms reach into a variety of different platforms, including Amazon Prime, Playstation Vue, Youtube and more, closed the deal with Warner Bros. late last year.
