Microsoft’s next home console may be more expensive than Sony’s Playstation 4 Pro.
In an interview with Eurogamer, Mike Ybarra, Corporate VP of Xbox and the Windows gaming platform, said that the Scorpio is for the “premium customer” that is looking for the best quality in their video games. As such, the console is expected to cost more than the Playstation 4 Pro, as least that is what Eurogamer speculates.
Fans are speculating that the console will run for $499.99 USD, roughly translating to about $649.99 CDN. If true, this would price the console at $100 more than the Playstation 4 Pro, a steep investment for those looking for a 4K gaming machine.
Microsoft recognises that they lost developers with the Xbox One console. The company is looking to win back developers they have lost since the Xbox One released. “We have to win the hearts and minds of developers,” Ybarra said. “We have to have the right toolset that lets them bring out their games across the whole family of products and let them create the absolute best versions of those games.”
Considering the Scorpio will run most, if not, all games at native 4K, how much is the console worth to you as a consumer? What is the most you would pay for a premium console like the Project Scorpio? Let us know in the comments below!
Project Scorpio is expected to launch later this year.
