In a surprise announcement, Halo Wars: Definitive Edition is releasing on Steam this Thursday, April 20th.
Microsoft hasn’t released a lot of games through Steam, as they heavily rely on their Windows 10 Store for game purchases. That said, other games, like Remedy Entertainment’s Quantum Break have seen Steam releases in the past, so this may be a move by Microsoft to expand their audience to more gamers.
An important thing to note is that network connectivity is exclusive to Steam. Those who purchase the game through the Windows 10 Store will be unable to communicate and play with gamers on the Steam version of the game, and vice versa.
At the time of this writing, it is unclear if Halo Wars 2 will make it’s way to Valve’s digital platform, but we will keep our readers informed regarding any news about future releases.
Halo Wars: Definitive Edition is available for Windows 10 and Xbox One.
