AMD’s inclusion of Halo 3 promotional material made some gamers assume that Halo 3 was coming to PC in the near future.
Today, the developers behind Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians have confirmed that Halo 3 is not being developed for a re-release. Unfortunately, this news confirms that Halo 3 is not seeing a release on PC, something which is sure to disappoint a few PC gamers. Community manager of 343 Industries Brian Jarrard, confirmed the news on the /r/Halo subreddit a couple of days ago:
“I’ve been here just about 6 months now and haven’t ever heard of one single mention of Halo 3 coming to Steam nor Halo 3 anniversary being made. In fact, it’s been completely debunked multiple times over. Sorry to say but there’s no plans nor any work underway to make this happen. (though personally I can’t deny it would be sweet)”
The news comes to somewhat as a shock, considering this September marks the tenth anniversary for Halo 3. Typically, Microsoft likes to surprise us during their E3 Press Briefing by announcing that an anniversary release of past Halo games will coincide with the game’s anniversary.
Halo 3 is available as a standalone title for the Xbox 360 or through Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One.
