Amazon Japan now offers an international shipping option for collector’s wanting to purchase games directly from Japan.
There are some strings attached however. First, anyone wishing to import video games from Japan may have to pay up to $10 for an import service charge, depending on the title. Secondly, this service is only available for games sold directly by Amazon. Meaning any games purchased by a third-party retailers through Amazon may not be shipped internationally. Lastly, you must have a separate Amazon Japan account, meaning any features such as Amazon Prime will not carry over from other Amazon regions.
Even with these strings attached, this will make things a hell of a lot easier and possibly cheaper for those wishing to purchase Japanese titles, some which are exclusive to this region. The only other possible downside is that you may need to purchase region-specific consoles as a lot of current generation titles are region locked, meaning games purchased in Japan may not be playable in North America.
