Allison Road is a game under development by Lilith Ltd. is rumoured to be the spiritual successor to the infamous P.T that was pulled from the Play Station Network last year. As the game continues development, many fans are jittering in their seats waiting to get their horror fill, but looking past the graphics that give off strong P.T vibes, what is Allison Road and what is it about?
According to the official website, Allison Road is a first person survival horror experience, meaning that as you navigate through the twists and turns of the picturesque British townhome you look through the eyes of the protagonist which can improve immersion and heighten the terrifying experience (both of these elements were also found in P.T).
The official website states “In Allison Road you will take on the role of the unnamed protagonist, who wakes up one day without any recollection of prior events. Over the course of five nights it is your objective to uncover the whereabouts of your family, unravel the mysteries of the house, and face off against Lily and other dark entities that are nested deep within its walls, while the clock is relentlessly ticking towards 3:00am.” Sounds spooky, right? The website also poses the question “What would you do if you could feel something stalking you in the dark in the safety of your own home? If you couldn’t tell what’s real and what’s not?” which could imply any range of possible horror elements (such as events resembling those of the classic “Eternal Darkness” for the Nintendo Gamecube which utilized a sanity meter system, or possibly even the simple yet elegant horror that is the supernatural and occult). The exciting factor that plays out of both statements is that the plot line allows for an independent experience, and judging by the style of the game possibly a cinematic experience as well. Hopefully upon release the plot line will flesh out through the open ended statements brought up in the synopsis such as “unravel mysteries of the house” and “face off against… dark entities nested deep within its walls”. A very intriguing idea brought up in the synopsis is is the mentioning of a character named Lily and the implications that she is a peer of the dark entities. It could be speculated that this game’s Lily functions similarly to P.T’s Lisa (the ghost that haunted the looping hallways) though there has been no official statement yet, it can be assumed that she is an important element to telling the story of Allison Road.
At this moment in time Allison Road is only confirmed for a PC release, though the FAQ on the official website states “We are currently looking at both Playstation and Xbox to see what we can do about that. There’s nothing confirmed just yet”. Another exciting piece of news is that because the game is developed using the Unreal 4 engine it will have native VR support! We can also expect to see Allison road by the end of Q3 2016.
Currently the development team has a video up on youtube of the prototype for the game:
