Developer Torn Banner Studios have unveiled an open beta for Chivalry 2, welcoming players to experience brutal yet honest medieval warfare. The open beta will be cross-play friendly and include new features that weren’t available as part of the closed beta earlier this year.
The follow on from the successful Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, Chivalry 2 promises to further in its unique blend of medieval immersion and adrenaline fuelled fps combat. The first-person slasher allows players to experience a variety of aspects seen in a real war of the time.
Despite the fictional setting, it remains heavily inspired by Europe in the middle ages and is not short on immersion for the player. The scale of combat viable on modern PCs and consoles makes it even closer to a full scale battle. As part of the additional features for the open beta, 64 player battles will be an option and bodes well for the full release.
In addition, there are further features added for the open beta. Three new team objective maps are available, including a final assault in the Siege of Rudhelm. Two further team death-match maps are available, including the option to fight in tournament grounds. This allows players to fight for the satisfaction of a crowd.
Furthermore, new game modes are being added to further the variety in gameplay. As well as the aforementioned larger servers, there is a new free-for-all mode allowing players to truly embrace the chaotic frenzy in a clash of steel and blood. There is also the addition of full customization of player models.
Parties are being introduced allowing players to join games with friends, providing they’re on the same platform. There is also the additional option of PC players taking part in specialist servers for 1 on 1 duels. These duels encourage players to use the honour system for full enjoyment.
The Chivalry 2 open beta will be available from May 27th, 2021. In addition, the full game is set for release on June 8th, 2021. Chivalry 2 will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Epic Games Store.
