Chivalry 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the first-person slasher, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, is out now! You can watch the launch trailer below, which shows off the epic, intense, and often bloody combat of the medieval multiplayer battlefield.
After years of exclusive play testing with the Chivalry community, developer Torn Banner Studios has released Chivalry 2 onto PC (via the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4 and 5, and the Xbox family of consoles. The multiplayer first-person slasher supports cross-play at launch and features cinematic combat between 64 players on massive medieval battlefields.
With the clash of swords, the sky made dark with flaming arrows, and sprawling castle sieges, Chivalry 2 presents the ultimate medieval combat experience. With a new and improved combat system, players can master their blade skills with real-time strikes and a free-flowing combo system. Tailored for fighting multiple foes at once, the combat mixes the best of FPS and fighting game genres to allow the player to become a seasoned warrior.
Chivalry 2 features many game modes to keep things interesting, such as Team Deathmatch, Free for All, and Team Objective. Lay siege to castles with catapults, burn villages to the ground, and slaughter peasants in a variety of game modes to defeat the opposing army. The new subclass system also provides a more expansive arsenal than ever before. Four base classes expand to subclasses, which include an armoury of unique weapons each and new support items from oil pots to barricades.
The game also allows you to build a hero that’s unique and personal to you. A detailed customisation system will allow you to change your hero, from their skin tone, to their head and facial hair, to their armour and weapons. Assign your hero their heraldry and nickname, and dive onto the battlefield as a fully-fledged character from the Middle Ages.
On the battlefield, losing a limb is not the end. Get disarmed, set on fire, filled with arrows, and still be throwing punches from your knees. Bandages, revives and the new downed state allow you to kill your enemies even when they think you’re out for good. This, coupled with a large selection of voice overs and emotes, means that your encounters on the battlefield will feel unique every time.
Torn Banner Studios CEO and Creative Director, Steve Piggott, elaborates:
‘It’s all-out insane, epic 64-player online carnage that finally delivers to gamers the intensity of being in your favourite medieval movie battle scenes. Chivalry 2 pulls you right into the action, delivering the satisfaction of an incredibly deep combat system, the cinematic glory of sieging castles, the chaos of a massive wave of knights smashing into each other, and hilarious Monty Python inspired voice overs. We can’t wait to hear our fans roaring their battle cries on the battlefield.’
Chivalry 2 is out now on PC (via the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The standard edition is available for $39.99 / €39.99 / £34.99, while the special edition is priced at $49.99 / €49.99 / £44.99 and includes a variety of bonus items.
