Counter-Strike has been a main staple in the FPS genre on PC since the year 2000 and hasn’t stopped staying relevant. Seemingly, out of nowhere, @CounterStrike on Twitter posted the announcement of Counter-Strike 2 coming out in 2023.
Additionally, a Limited Test began on March 22, 2023, giving some lucky players of CS:GO access to the new game. The latest release in the series, CS:GO, has seen exponential growth since its release in 2012. While staying in the high hundred thousand to a million peak players for the past 3 years.
The only way for a player to know if they got access is through CS:GO’s main menu itself, so looking for a key to buy will get you nowhere. CS2’s development team will be choosing players through some factors like recent playtime on Valve official servers and Steam account standing. These will not be the only factors, but they are important! More information about the Limited Test can be found here.
Following the announcement of Counter-Strike 2 on Twitter, the account then followed up with informative videos. These videos go over smoke grenade interactions, tick rate improvements, and map upgrades within the Source 2 engine. The main CS2 website has these videos, plus visual sliders comparing differences between CS:GO and CS2 map updates. Have a look at the “Leveling Up The World” video below.
More information will be revealed in a couple of months, says the Counter-Strike 2 website. Are you looking forward to the next Counter-Strike? Let us know on Twitter!
